Different Types of Dentures

Though we’d like to keep our permanent teeth for a lifetime, things don’t always go as planned. Teeth can go missing because of dental decay or trauma to the mouth, but the good news is that Dr. Paul Bernstein of Bernstein Dental Care can provide patients with a replacement. Dentures are an excellent and cost-efficient way to restore missing teeth and there are two types that Dr. Bernstein may suggest.

Complete (full) dentures are used if you’re missing teeth in your upper (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) jaws. Partial dentures are used on patients who only have some teeth missing on either jaw. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting position. It’s normal for dentures to feel awkward at first, but you will eventually get used to the mouthfeel.
